Queen Latifah
Dana Elaine Owens - better than the general public by the name of Queen Latifah is an American performer, actress and a singer. The work of Queen Latifah in television, film and music has won numerous awards. This includes the Golden Globe Award two Screen Actors Guild Awards Two Image Awards A Grammy Award In addition, she has six Grammy Nominations An Emmy Award Nomination and an Academy Award. Queen Latifah's parents are Lancelot and Rita Owens. They were both members of the police force. Rita was a Newark New Jersey teacher, who worked in Irvington High School. Latifah's mother and father separated when Latifah turned ten. Latifah lived in the Baptist religion and went to Catholic school in Newark New Jersey. Latifah was the stage name she used when she reached the age of eight. It means fragile in Arabic. Latifah, 5-foot-10" tall power forward on the high school team, was always a tall girl. As part of a school production she performed Home from The Wiz. Latifah was the first to begin beatboxing for Ladies Fresh. Latifah joined the Flavor Unit in its original model, consisting of an MC team and DJ Mark The 45 King. Dante Ross, an employee of Tommy Boy Music who heard the song, and then made a deal with Latifah in 1988, to drop her first track Wrath of My Madness.
