April Ross
April Ross is one of just a handful of female beach volleyball stars to win medals at multiple Olympics. Alix klineman, who is taking part for the very first time at Tokyo's Olympic Games is hoping to secure her third gold medal. Ross hopes to win more than her first Olympic medal. The next time she has the chance at age 39. Still confident but she is not sure. Ross on NBC Boston, said that when the team performs well or at all they can earn a gold. So I'm going to take some luck too. Ross was born in 1982 in Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents and sister. Ross went on to play in a myriad of sports during her time at Newport Harbor High School. The prep sports she played included indoor volleyball as well as basketball as well as running and track. However, she was a standout at this level. According to her bio, she was a middle blocker and an outside hitter on the volleyball court during her high-school career. In recognition of her accomplishments, she received the Gatorade Award for the National Player of 1999. In 2000, she won her the Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman began their partnership in 2017, but Ross has been a beach player for years prior to. The fact is, she's been a winner of numerous major tournaments and one partner was a volleyball superstar. For six years from 2007 until 2013, she was a team alongside Jennifer Kessy who more recently served as her and Klineman's coach. Kessy as well as Ross proved to be an impressive force on the world circuit, winning the 2009 World Championship with each other. The pair eventually picked up a silver medal in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the team that could take home the gold. Ross Walsh was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's resignation. The pair won bronze in the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross played for the Trojans at USC during her the college years following her graduation from the high school she attended. Her career was a success through the college. In 2000, she was named Pac-10 Freshman as well as NCAA Freshman of the Year, and was also an All-American. The Trojans could also get to the Final Four with her help. After her sophomore year, she experienced a terrible personal tragedy, but earned the distinction of being an All-American. In her last two seasons within the team, she guided the Trojans towards the summit netting successive national titles. Individually she had cemented her place as a legend having won the 2003-04 Honda Sports Award as the nation's top female collegiate volleyball player. Ross majored in International Relations at USC. Unfortunately Ross mom Margie did not get to see Ross rise to the top levels of beach volleyball stardom. Ross's mother passed away from breast carcinoma in the year 2001. Ross had just become sophomore at USC. But, she will always hold her lost parent near and dear. Margie has always been a source of inspiration to her both at and off the beaches.
